The Power of a Winning Side
I recently came across an article imagining a fantasy World Cup team made up of #business #founders and #investors.
It was intended as a bit of fun. Yet it prompted a more serious reflection.
When people think about building high performing #teams, they often start by asking:
- Who are the stars?
- Who has the strongest track record?
But football managers know something important: a #team of eleven strikers won’t win a World Cup.
The best teams aren’t built by collecting the most talented individuals. They’re built by bringing together people whose #strengths complement each other.
#Leadership teams are no different.
- Some see opportunities others miss.
- Some ask the difficult questions.
- Some bring clarity when things become complex.
- Some inspire belief and momentum.
- Some provide stability when the pressure is on.
- Some quietly hold everything together.
In my #coaching work with #executive #teams, I’ve noticed that breakthroughs often happen when leaders make the time and space for conversation and connection and ask:
- What do we need that we don’t currently have?
- What gets in the way of us being at our best?
- What can we collectively shift to create more value and impact?
They’re not always easy conversations. But they’re often the ones that matter most.
