Johnson Controls International's OpenBlue Service Supports Sustainability Transition in the Built Environment

Global building management company Johnson Controls has this week launched OpenBlue Net Zero Buildings, a sustainability-led service which looks to hold a great deal of promise for both the company itself and its customers in their march to reduce #carbon emissions, energy consumption and other sustainability goals.

Good for the planet and good for business, OpenBlue's service is aimed to support the challenges related to reducing the estimated 40% of global #emissions created by the built environment.

-      In May 2021, the company commissioned a survey of c. 1,000 North America professionals whose scope includes building operations, facilities and energy management and #sustainability leadership.
-      Over 90% of respondents cite corporate ambitions to reduce carbon emissions and #energy consumption.
-      Over 60% of respondents have targets with 50% or greater reduction by 2030.
This means that Johnson Controls is very much “pushing on an open door”.

The OpenBlue services include real-time performance dashboards, reporting services for assessing dimensions such as energy use, #water use, materials, emissions and – importantly -- #innovation and solutions which support sustainability transition.

"Necessity is the mother of invention," goes the proverb, and our climate is making very necessary, indeed, the road to #netzero. It is not a journey without challenge. Johnson Controls’ OpenBlue will, at least, make the journey easier.
