Diageo Leaders "Walking the Talk" on Sustainability
More than 1,700 worldwide companies have now set #emissions reduction targets validated by the The Science Based Target initiative, a collaboration formed between CDP, World Resources Institute, WWF and United Nations Global Compact to define and promote best practice in science-based target setting.
This week, significantly, global spirits and beer company Diageo aligned and validated targets with The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for both Scope 1 and 2 (where the company has direct impact) -- and Scope 3 (indirect impact).
While there is hard work to come, to deliver on the ambitions, this step, itself, is to be applauded.
Many leading branded goods company are levering expertise in powerful storytelling and talking a good game about #sustainability strides. Diageo's #leadership has not just "talked the talk" but also is "walking the talk" about their intentions; with quantifiable goals which will be assessed and measured over time.
#Greenwashing is rampant. Here’s to those #business leaders who have the courage and commitment to face into a sustainability transition with vigour, authentically.
