Creating an 'Experimentation' Culture
Ramesh Johari, Sven Schmit and Martin Tingley have published a fascinating early 2025 read in this month’s Harvard Business Review.
The three authors premise is that if you, as a #business leader, want to get your company better at #experimentation – particularly if you’re in #leadership at a company that’s of scale or #scaling up – you’ve got to break down the barriers to scaled up experimentation.
While that might not sound like a novel concept, it is brought to life in a far more compelling way than it may read at first blush given the combination of insights provided by the triumvirate: Johari from an #academic seat at Stanford University, Schmit from platform #engineering with Eppo and Tingley from an #analysis leadership vantage point with Netflix.
Johari, Schmit and Tingley don’t suggest that #democratisation of experimentation can be achieved overnight, nor that #AI will be manna from heaven in supporting the shifts required. But they do impart to leadership that, for those willing to grasp the nettle, there is great opportunity that awaits.
